This article contains fantasy football predictions and projections for Mike Williams (Tampa Bay) in the 2011 season.

Mike Williams had an extraordinary rookie debut on a young Tampa Bay offense. This offense features Josh Freeman who is now entering his third season and LeGarrette Blount who is entering his second season this year. Both players are extremely young and talented. Freeman played ten games in his rookie season in 2009 and managed to rack up 1,855 yards and 10 touchdowns, he also threw 18 interceptions. It wasn't the best season. Freeman stats improved greatly in 2011. He was even owned in some fantasy football leagues. He wasn't on top of the rankings but he managed to put up 3,451 yards, 25 touchdowns and 6 interceptions. This was a great second season and should be signs of things to come which is why he is one of my fantasy football sleepers for 2011. He also added 364 rushing yards to his yardage totals. Freeman is just what Williams needs, a talented young quarterback who has some experience in the league and a bright future. The Bucs should also see improvement from the running back position as well with the emergence of LeGarrette Blount.

Blount was famous in college because he punched another player in the face during a game. That hurt his draft rankings but Tampa Bay wasn't afraid of his character issues and drafted him anyway. He has shown signs of being a solid running back in this league. Blount managed 1,007 yards and 6 touchdowns in only 13 games. Pretty good stats for a rookie which is why he also is on my fantasy football sleepers for 2011 list and you can read more about his fantasy value there. In terms of helping Williams, he makes the defense stay honest. A downside of Blount that actually helps Williams is that even though Blount is big he hasn't done very well in short yardage situations. This causes Tampa Bay to pass to Williams more often in short yardage situations and on the goal line.

Williams quickly became one of Freeman's favorite targets and they hooked up for 11 touchdown passes. Blount should help keep defenses honest and take pressure off of Williams and Freeman. The great thing about Williams is that he was extremely consistent, those 11 touchdowns were caught in 10 different games. And he was not shut out by any teams so he managed to at least get you a few fantasy points even on the bad weeks. He put up 964 yards to go along with his 11 touchdowns which is excellent for a rookie. Mike Williams is a big time receiver and should put up more yards next season and at least maintain his 2011 touchdown totals. My prediction is that next year he will be ranked as a top 8 fantasy football wide receiver by just about everyone. Mike Williams' fantasy football future should be bright, if you have the opportunity I suggest you draft Williams in 2011.
